Being Born, Unbelief of Birth, Conversion

March 7, 2007

Gen. 17: 12-13, 17, 23, 27

Being born in the house requires circumcision at eight-days. Covenant is in the “flesh” as an everlasting covenant. Abraham doesn’t believe a child can be born of him at such an old age. Correlates to Christ being born of a virgin. How could a virgin-birth be possible?

Lord visits Sarah and she conceived. Similar to the Lord’s visit to Mary, and she conceived. Luke 1: 27, 30, 34, 38-39, 41, 46, 56

26 And in the sixth month the aangel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

Just like visit to Sarah.

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among awomen.

Similar announcement.

30 And the angel said unto her, aFear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

Sarah found favor with God.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name aJESUS.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the aSon of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the bthrone of his father cDavid:

33 And he shall areign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no bend.

He will be the Son, just like Abraham’s promised son.

34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I aknow not a man?

Mary doubts the possibility, due to her virginity. Sarah doubts because of her old age.

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The aHoly Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the bSon of God.

36 And, behold, thy acousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her bold age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37 For with God nothing shall be aimpossible.

38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Mary believes and accepts. Sarah apparently does not until later when she becomes pregnant.

People who declare righteousness of Christ shall be “born.” Ps. 22: 31

31 They shall come, and shall adeclare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Ways of those who are born and turn to wickedness. Ps. 58: 3

2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.

3 The wicked are estranged from the awomb: they go bastray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
